Laura Matthews, MA, CMA (AAMA), joins Med-X with years of experience in the local healthcare community as a practitioner, manager, and educator. An Oregon native, Laura began working as a nursing assistant at 16 and never looked back. In 2006, she graduated from an accredited medical assistant (MA) program and earned her CMA (AAMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants. In 2015, Laura completed her Bachelor of Science degree at Portland State University and earned a Masters of Science in Healthcare Administration from St. Joseph's University four years later.
With more than 15 years working as a medical assistant and in clinic management, Laura has first-hand knowledge of the MA's important role within a healthcare setting, especially as it relates to patient care. As a leader, she's also guided clinic-wide initiatives to improve operational efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of care.
Throughout her career, Laura has taken an active role in the MA community. She spent four years working as an instructor for medical assistant and medical office administration students and now helps develop MA certification standards as an AAMA Test Writing Task Force member. Laura is also the current president-elect of the River Cities Chapter of Medical Assistants (RCMA).
In her new role at Med-X, Laura will use her experience, education, and industry connections to help our customers succeed by connecting them with the best local healthcare talent.
